will they ask each other" (Quran 23:101). The interpretation of al-Hasan is: He says, there will be no kinship between them through which they show affection, as they used to show affection through it in the world, and they will not ask each other for help through them, such that some of them would bear [the burdens] for others, as they used to ask one another in the world by their lineages, like the saying of a man: "I ask you by Allah and by kinship."

يتساءلون﴾ تَفْسِيرُ الْحَسَنِ: يَقُولُ: فَلَا أَنْسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَتَعَاطَفُونَ عَلَيْهَا؛ كَمَا كَانُوا يَتَعَاطَفُونَ عَلَيْهَا فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَلَا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ عَلَيْهَا أَنْ يَحْمِلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَنْ بَعْضٍ؛ كَمَا كَانُوا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ فِي الدُّنْيَا بِأَنْسَابِهِمْ؛ كَقَوْلِ الرَّجُلِ: أَسأَلك بِاللَّه وبالرحم.
