He said: 'Muhammad.' It was asked: 'Has he been called for?' He said: 'Yes.' They said: 'Welcome to him; a most excellent arrival.' So it was opened for us, and I came upon Abraham, and he was reclining against the Much-Frequented House (al-Bayt al-Ma'mur). Seventy thousand angels enter it every day, and they do not return to it until the Hour is established. I said: 'Who is this, O Gabriel?' He said: 'This is your father, Abraham.' I greeted him; he welcomed me and prayed for my well-being. And my nation was with him in two parts: a part upon whom were white garments, and a part upon whom were ashen garments. The wearers of the white garments entered, while the others were detained. I said: 'Who are these, O Gabriel?' He said: 'These are those who mixed a righteous deed with an evil one, and all are upon goodness.' Then it was said: 'This is your station and the station of your nation.' Then he recited this verse: 'Indeed, the most worthy of Abraham among the people are those who followed him [in his time] and this prophet, and those who believe [in his message]. And Allah is the ally of the believers.' He said: 'Then we reached the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary (Sidrat al-Muntaha); it was the most beautiful thing that Allah has created. A single leaf of its leaves, if this nation were covered by it, it would cover them all. Then the Salsabil [fountain] burst forth from beneath it, and from the Salsabil two rivers burst forth: the River of Mercy and the River of Abundance (al-Kawthar). I performed ablution from the River of Mercy, and Allah forgave my past and future sins. Then I was given the Kawthar, and I followed it until it flowed into Paradise; and its birds were like the Bukht (large camels). He said: 'And I looked at a young woman, and I said: "To whom do you belong, O young woman?" She said: "To Zayd ibn Harithah." He said: 'Then I looked at the Fire, and the punishment of my Lord is indeed severe; neither stone nor iron can withstand it.' He said: 'Then I returned to the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, and there covered it from the command of Allah what covered it, and an angel alighted upon every leaf, and Allah supported it with His power. He enjoined upon me fifty prayers every day and night. Then I returned to Moses, who said: "What did your Lord enjoin upon you?" I said: "He enjoined upon me fifty prayers every day and night." He said: "Return to your Lord and ask Him for a reduction."
