"Then have you become secure that He will not cause a portion of the land to swallow you," as He caused the people of Lot and Korah to be swallowed, "or send against you a storm of stones?" Qatadah said: Meaning, stones from the sky with which He pelted you, just as He did with the people of Lot, "and then you would not find for yourselves any protector," meaning: an obstacle or a helper.
﴿أَفَأَمِنْتُمْ أَنْ يَخْسِفَ بِكُمْ جَانِبَ الْبر﴾ كَمَا خَسَفَ بِقَوْمِ لُوطٍ وَبِقَارُونَ ﴿أَو يُرْسل عَلَيْكُم حاصبا﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: أَيْ: حِجَارَةٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ يَحْصِبُكُمْ بِهَا كَمَا فَعَلَ بِقَوْمِ لُوطٍ ﴿ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا لكم وَكيلا﴾ أَي: منيعا وَلَا نَصِيرًا
