"{Those who accuse chaste women}" means: the virtuous. "{The unwary}" means: that they did not do what they were accused of. "{Are cursed in this world and the Hereafter}" up to His saying: "{for what they used to do}."
Yahya said: It reached me that he means by that: 'Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul regarding the affair of 'Aishah.
﴿إِن الَّذين يرْمونَ الْمُحْصنَات﴾ يَعْنِي: العفائف ﴿الْغَافِلَات﴾ يَعْنِي: أَنَّهُنَ لَمْ يَفْعَلْنَ مَا قُذِفْنَ بِهِ ﴿لُعِنُوا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ﴾ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: ﴿بِمَا كَانُوا يعْملُونَ﴾.
قَالَ يَحْيَى: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّهُ يَعْنِي بِذَلِكَ: عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي ابْن سلول فِي أَمر عَائِشَة.
