"And those who seek the contract (kitab) from among those whom your right hands possess, then enter into a contract with them if you know that they have good." Regarding Al-Hasan's explanation: 'If you know they have wealth.' Qatada said: 'If you know they have honesty, fulfillment, and trustworthiness.'
His saying: "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you." Qatada said: 'That he leaves for them a portion of their earnings.' "And do not force your slave girls to prostitution if they desire chastity." [Al-Bigha': adultery] "Chastity," meaning: virtue and Islam.
It reached us from Al-Zuhri, who said: It was revealed concerning a slave girl who belonged to 'Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul. He used to force her upon a man from Quraysh, desiring her for himself, hoping that she would bear him a child so he could ransom his child. That was the goal that Ibn Ubayy ibn Salul was seeking. "And whoever forces them, then indeed, Allah, after their being forced, is Forgiving, Merciful." And it is likewise in the reading (harf) of Ibn Mas'ud.
