[Or as darknesses in a deep sea] - meaning: deep. [Covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds, darknesses, some of them upon others] - meaning: the darkness of the sea, the darkness of the clouds, and the darkness of the night. This is the parable of the disbeliever. He says: His heart is dark, in a dark breast, in a dark body. [When he puts out his hand, he can hardly see it] - due to the intensity of the darkness.
