He said: "Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah; peace be upon us from our Lord."
Yahya [narrated] from al-Khalil ibn Murra that Ibn Mas‘ud said: "Indeed, al-Salam (the Peace) is one of the names of Allah which He has placed upon the earth; so spread it among yourselves. For if a Muslim man passes by a group of people and greets them with peace, and they return it to him, he has a degree of merit over them, for he reminded them of the peace. And if they do not return it to him, one who is better and purer than them returns it to him: the angels."
Surat al-Nur (Verse 62).
قَالَ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ رَبِّنَا.
يَحْيَى: عَنِ الْخَلِيلِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: " إِنَّ السَّلَامَ اسْمٌ مِنْ أَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ وَضَعَهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ؛ فَأَفْشُوهُ بَيْنَكُمْ، فَإِنَّ الْمَرْءَ الْمُسْلِمَ إِذَا مَرَّ بِالْقَوْمِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَرَدُّوا عَلَيْهِ (كَانَتْ لَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَضِيلَةُ دَرَجَةٍ؛ فَإِنَّهُ ذَكَّرَهُمُ السَّلَامَ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَرُدُّوا عَلَيْهِ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ) مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُمْ وَأَطْيَبُ: الْمَلَائِكَة ".
سُورَة النُّور (آيَة ٦٢).
