"Do not make the calling of the Messenger among yourselves like the calling of one another by each other." Mujahid said: He commanded them to call him, "O Messenger of Allah," with gentleness and humility, and not to say, "O Muhammad." "Allah already knows those who slip away from you, concealing themselves [by others]," meaning: the hypocrites, as some of them hide behind others to conceal themselves from the Prophet until they depart.
Muhammad said: "Al-Liwadh" is a verbal noun: "Lawadhtu" (a reciprocal action between two parties). If it were the verbal noun for "ladhtu" (to take refuge), it would have been "liyadhan."
﴿لَا تَجْعَلُوا دُعَاءَ الرَّسُولِ بَيْنَكُمْ كدعاء بَعْضكُم بَعْضًا﴾ قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: أَمْرَهَمُ أَنْ يَدْعُوهُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؛ فِي لِينٍ وَتَوَاضُعٍ، وَلَا يَقُولُوا: يَا مُحَمَّدُ ﴿قَدْ يَعْلَمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ يَتَسَلَّلُونَ مِنْكُم لِوَاذًا﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمُنَافِقِينَ؛ يَلُوذُ بَعْضُهُمْ بِبَعْضٍ اسْتِتَارًا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ حَتَّى يَذْهَبُوا.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: اللِّوَاذُ مَصْدَرٌ: لاوَذْتُ (فَعْلُ اثْنَيْنِ) وَلَوْ كَانَ مَصْدَرًا للذت لَكَانَ لِيَاذًا.
