{Blessed is He who, if He willed, could have given you better than that: gardens beneath which rivers flow}. They only claimed it to be a single garden, {and will assign you palaces}, built up in this world. This is according to the reading of those who do not read it in the nominative case (raf'), while for those who read it in the nominative case, the meaning is: He will assign you palaces in the Hereafter.
﴿تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي إِنْ شَاءَ جَعَلَ لَكَ خَيْرًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ جَنَّاتٍ تجْرِي من تحتهَا الْأَنْهَار﴾ وَإِنَّمَا قَالُوا: هِيَ جَنَّةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ ﴿وَيجْعَل لَك قصورا﴾ مَشِيدَةً فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَهَذَا عَلَى مقرإ مَنْ لَمْ يَرْفَعْهَا، وَمَنْ قَرَأَهَا بِالرَّفْعِ؛ فَالْمَعْنَى: وَسَيَجْعَلُ لَكَ قُصُورًا فِي الْآخِرَةِ.
