"And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily." The interpretation of Al-Hasan: God praised the believers and condemned the polytheists; He said: "And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily," meaning: with forbearance. He means: the believers, while you, O polytheists, are not forbearing. Al-hawn (ease) in the speech of the Arabs is: gentleness and tranquility. "And when the ignorant address them, they say words of peace." The interpretation of Mujahid: They said: words that are correct.
﴿وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الأَرْض هونا﴾ تَفْسِيرُ الْحَسَنِ: مَدَحَ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَذَمَّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ؛ فَقَالَ: ﴿وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الأَرْضِ هَوْنًا﴾ أَيْ: حِلْمًا، يَعْنِي: الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، وَأَنْتُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ لَسْتُمْ بِحُلَمَاءَ، وَالْهَوْنُ فِي كَلَامِ الْعَرَبِ: اللَّيِنُ وَالسَّكِينَةُ. ﴿وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجَاهِلُونَ قَالُوا سَلامًا﴾ تَفْسِير مُجَاهِد قَالُوا: سدادا
