[He] said, "Do they hear you when you call? Or do they benefit you or harm you?" That is, they neither hear, nor do they benefit, nor do they harm.
﴿قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ أَو ينفعونكم أَو يضرون﴾ أَي: أَنَّهَا لَا تسمع ولاتنفع وَلَا تضر
