"And forgive my father, for he has been among the astray." He said this during his father's lifetime, when he was hopeful that he would believe; but when it became clear to him that he was among the people of the Fire, he stopped praying for him.
﴿وَاغْفِرْ لأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالّين﴾ قَالَ هَذَا فِي حَيَاةِ أَبِيهِ، وَكَانَ فِي طَمَعٍ مِنْ أَنْ يُؤْمِنَ، فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ أَنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ لَمْ يَدْعُ لَهُ
