Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 4 · Page 1015

Translation · EN

[Those] who love one another for My sake. Those are the ones whom, if I intend evil for the people of the earth, I remember them and turn it away from them because of them."

Muhammad said: His saying: "And they would not sleep [at night]"—it is possible that "ma" (what) is an emphatic redundant particle, and it is possible that what follows it is a verbal noun. The meaning is: Their sleeping at night was little.

"And in their wealth was a right for the beggar and the deprived." The beggar is the one who asks. And the deprived, according to the interpretation of al-Hasan, is the one who refrains from asking, stays in his house, and does not beg.
