"Then indeed, for them upon it is a mixture of scalding water." Meaning: a mixture of scalding water, which is water that cannot be endured due to its heat.
Muhammad said: "Al-shawb" is the verbal noun (masdar), and "al-shawb" is also the noun (ism); the meaning is: indeed, they have, upon eating it, a blending and mixture of scalding water.
﴿ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا من حميم﴾ أَي: لمزاجًا من حميم، وَهُوَ المَاء الَّذِي لَا يُسْتَطَاعُ من حَرِّه.
قَالَ محمدٌ: (الشّوبُ) المصدرُ، و (الشّوبُ) الِاسْم؛ الْمَعْنى: إِن لَهُم عَلَى أكلهَا لخلْطًا ومزَاجًا من حميم.
