[And the people of Nuh] meaning: He destroyed the people of Nuh. [Before, indeed, they were more unjust and more transgressing] They were the first to deny the messengers.
﴿وَقوم نوح﴾ أَي: وَأهْلك قوم نوحٍ ﴿مِنْ قَبْلُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وأطغى﴾ كَانُوا أول من كذب الرُّسُل.
