His saying: "The Hour has drawn near," meaning it has approached. Yahya reported from Abu al-Ashhab, from al-Hasan, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The likeness of me and the Hour is like these two," and he brought his middle finger and the one that people call the index finger together, without favoring one over the other.
"And the moon has split." Ibn Mas'ud said: "The moon split into two parts until I saw Mount Abu Qubays between them."
قَوْله: ﴿اقْتَرَبت السَّاعَة﴾ أَي دنت. يحيى: عَن أبي الأَشْهَبِ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ: " إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ السَّاعَةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ، فَمَا فَضَّلَ إِحْدَاهُمْا عَلَى الأُخْرَى، وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ الْوُسْطَى وَالَّتِي يَقُول النَّاس السَّبَّابة ".
﴿وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَر﴾ قَالَ ابْن مَسْعُود: " انْشَقَّ الْقَمَر شقين حَتَّى رَأَيْت أَبَا قبيس بَينهمَا "
