"And there has come to them of information," meaning: the reports of the nations whom Allah destroyed, "that in which there is deterrence," from the polytheism they are upon.
﴿وَلَقَد جَاءَهُم من الأنباء﴾ يَعْنِي: أَخْبَار الْأُمَم (ل ٣٤٥) فأهلكهم اللَّه ﴿مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ﴾ عَمَّا هم عَلَيْهِ من الشّرك
