Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 4 · Page 124315

Translation · EN

His statement: "And He created the jinn"—Iblis—"from a smokeless flame of fire," meaning from the tongue of fire and its blaze, according to the interpretation of al-Hasan.

Muhammad said: The blaze of fire is called "marij" because of its flickering, from the verb "maraja," meaning it fluctuated and did not settle. Al-Hasan said: All mankind, down to the last of them, are the progeny of Adam.
