(He let loose the two seas, they meet), Qatada’s interpretation: one of them flows into the other.
Muhammad said: The meaning of "maraja" (let loose) is to mix, and this is what Qatada intended.
﴿مرج الْبَحْرين يَلْتَقِيَانِ﴾ تَفْسِير قَتَادَة: أَفَاضَ أَحدهمَا فِي الآخر.
قَالَ محمدٌ: معنى مرج: خلط وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَرَادَ قَتَادَة.
