Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 4 · Page 125024

Translation · EN

"And His are the ships (al-jawari) raised up in the sea like mountains" (al-a'lam). This means: the ships that have their sails (shuru'), which are the masts (al-qulu').

Muhammad said: It is written without a ya' [in the rasm of the Uthmanic codex], and whoever stops upon it does so with a ya'. The preferred method is to connect it [in recitation]; al-Zajjaj mentioned this. The meaning of 'al-munsha'at' (raised up) is: those which have been constructed. And 'al-a'lam' means: the mountains.
