"O company of jinn and mankind," meaning: the polytheists among them, "if you can pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth," meaning: from their extremities, "then pass! You will not pass except by authority [sultan]," meaning: except by a proof [hujjah], according to the interpretation of Mujahid.
﴿يَا معشر الْجِنّ وَالْإِنْس﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمُشْركين مِنْهُم ﴿إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تنفذوا من أقطار السَّمَاوَات وَالْأَرْض﴾ من نَوَاحِيهَا (فَانفُذُوا لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَا بِسُلْطَانٍ إِلَّا بِحجَّة فِي تَفْسِير مُجَاهِد.
