"It is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days"—the day of which is a thousand years—"then He established Himself above the Throne." The interpretation of Ibn Abbas states: "Indeed, the Footstool (al-Kursi) which encompasses the heavens and the earth is but the place of the two feet, and no one knows the magnitude of the Throne except the One who created it." "He knows what penetrates into the earth," meaning: what enters into it of rain, "and what emerges from it," of vegetation, "and what descends from the heaven," of revelation and other things, "and what ascends therein," meaning: what rises up to it of the angels and the deeds of the servants.
