Translation · EN

[Wait for us,] meaning wait for us, [that we may borrow some of your light.] This is because every believer and hypocrite is given a light upon the Sirat (the bridge). Then the light of the hypocrites is extinguished, while the light of the believers remains. The hypocrites say to the believers: "Wait for us," meaning wait for us, that we may borrow some of your light. They assume it is a light like the light of this world—if someone's fire goes out, he borrows from another's. The believers then say to them, having recognized [their condition...]

﴿انظُرُونَا﴾ انتظرونا ﴿نَقْتَبِسْ مِن نُّورِكُمْ﴾ وَذَلِكَ أَنه يُعْطي كل مُؤمن ومنافق نورا على الصِّرَاط، فيطفأ نورُ الْمُنَافِقين وَيبقى نورُ الْمُؤمنِينَ، فَيَقُول المُنَافِقُونَ للْمُؤْمِنين: ﴿انظرونا﴾ انتظرونا نقتبس من نوركم، وَيَحْسبُونَ أَنه قبسٌ كقبس الدُّنْيَا إِذا طفئت نَار أحدهم اقتبس، فَقَالَ لَهُم الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَقد عرفُوا
