"They have taken their oaths as a shield." They used their swearing as a protection, so that they might not be killed, their offspring might not be taken captive, and their wealth might not be seized.
﴿اتَّخذُوا أَيْمَانهم جنَّة﴾ حَلِفَهم اجْتنُّوا بهَا؛ حَتَّى لَا يُقْتَلُوا وَلَا تُسْبَى ذرِّيتهم، وَلَا تُؤْخَذ أَمْوَالهم.
