"You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving"—meaning: befriending—"those who oppose"—meaning: those who show enmity towards—"Allah and His Messenger." Al-Hasan's interpretation: They are the hypocrites who befriend the polytheists. "Those—He has written upon their hearts"—meaning: He has placed in their hearts—"faith"—meaning: the believers who do not befriend the polytheists—"and supported them"—meaning: aided them—"with a spirit from Him"—meaning: with a victory from Him against the polytheists—"and He will enter them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him"—meaning: they are pleased with His reward. "Those are the party of Allah"—meaning: the soldiers of Allah. "Unquestionably, the party of Allah"—the soldiers of Allah—"are the successful ones,"—meaning: the blessed ones, and they are the people of Paradise.
