His saying: [{For the poor emigrants}]—meaning: and for the poor. It refers back to the beginning of the verse: [{What Allah restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns, it is for Allah, and for the Messenger, and for [his] near relatives, and the orphans, and the destitute, and the traveler}], and for the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their wealth; the polytheists expelled them from Mecca, [{seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval}] through righteous deeds, [{and aiding Allah and His Messenger. Those are the truthful}] in their hearts.
Interpretation of Surat al-Hashr from verse 9 to verse 10.
قَوْله: ﴿للْفُقَرَاء الْمُهَاجِرين﴾ أَي: وللفقراء، رَجَعَ إِلَى أول الْآيَة ﴿مَا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَى فَلِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِين وَابْن السَّبِيل﴾ وللفقراء الْمُهَاجِرين الَّذين أخرجُوا من دِيَارهمْ وَأَمْوَالهمْ أخرجهم الْمُشْركُونَ من مَكَّة ﴿يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلا مِنَ اللَّهِ ورضوانا﴾ بِالْعَمَلِ الصَّالح ﴿وَيَنْصُرُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أُولَئِكَ هم الصادقون﴾ من قُلُوبهم.
