Volume 4 · Page 14544

Translation · EN

He said: 'And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice' [meaning the ram which Abel, the son of Adam, offered to Allah as a sacrifice and which He accepted; it had been grazing in Paradise until Allah—Glorious is His mention—ransomed Ishmael with it]. Mujahid said: 'Meaning, accepted.' Ibn Abbas said: 'Abraham turned around, and there was a white, horned ram, so he slaughtered it.'

Yahya said: 'As for his son whom he intended to slaughter: Al-Hasan said: He is Isaac.'
