upon whom is the wrath of Allah." Al-Hasan said: Meaning: the Jews. "They have despaired of the Hereafter," meaning: from the bliss of the Hereafter. It is understood that the Jews claimed that there is no eating or drinking in it, so they have despaired of that, just as those of the disbelievers who died have despaired of Paradise when they witnessed the Fire.
غَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ﴾ قَالَ الْحسن: يَعْنِي: الْيَهُود ﴿قَدْ يَئِسُوا مِنَ الآخِرَةِ﴾ أَي: من نعيم الْآخِرَة، يَعْنِي: الْيَهُود زَعَمُوا أَن لَا أكل فِيهَا وَلَا شُرْب، قد يئسوا من ذَلِك؛ كَمَا يئس من مَاتَ من الْكفَّار من الْجنَّة حِين عاينوا النَّار.
