Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 4 · Page 14906

Translation · EN

"Then wish for death if you are truthful" in your claim that you are the allies of Allah to the exclusion of other people.

Muhammad said: The recitation is (fatamanrawu al-mawta) with the damma on the waw due to its quiescent state and the quiescence of the lam. It has also been recited as (fatamanrawu al-mawta) with a kasra on the waw to resolve the meeting of two quiescent letters, though the preferred reading is the damma with the waw, as in the case of (ishtaru al-dalala).
