propped up," meaning: they are bodies that possess no hearts that have attained faith. "They think every shout is against them," describing them as cowardly regarding combat. The statement concludes there. Then He says: "They are the enemy" because of what they have concealed. "So beware of them; may Allah destroy them!" "May Allah curse them!" "How are they deluded?" meaning: how are they turned away from faith?

مُّسَنَّدَةٌ﴾ يَعْنِي: أَنهم أجسادٌ لَيست لَهُم قُلُوب آمنُوا بهَا ﴿يَحْسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيْحَةٍ عَلَيْهِمْ﴾ وَصفهم بالجُبْن عَن الْقِتَال، وَانْقطع الْكَلَام، ثمَّ قَالَ: ﴿هُمُ الْعَدُوُّ﴾ فِيمَا أسَرُّوا ﴿فَاحْذَرْهُمْ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّه﴾ ﴿لعنهم الله﴾ (أَنَّى يُؤْفَكُونَ﴾ كَيفَ يصدون عَن الْإِيمَان.
