"They say: If we return to al-Madinah, the more honorable will surely expel the meaner therefrom." This is the statement of Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul; it occurred when he said to his companions while they were on the expedition of Tabuk: We have turned to a man from Quraysh and placed him over our necks; expel him and send him back to his people, and let us be in charge.
﴿يَقُولُونَ لَئِن رَّجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الأَذَلّ﴾ هَذَا قوْلُ عبد الله بْن أبيَ بْن سلول؛ وَذَلِكَ أَنه قَالَ لأَصْحَابه وهُمْ فِي غَزْوَة تَبُوك: عمدنا إِلَى رجل من قُرَيْش فجعلناه على رقابنا، أَخْرجُوهُ فألحقوه بقَوْمه وَليكن علينا
