"Then when they have reached their term," meaning: the end of the waiting period, "retain them with kindness or part from them with kindness." This is because a man would divorce a woman, leave her until she was on the verge of completing her waiting period, then take her back, then divorce her [again]; thus, the woman would undergo nine menstrual cycles. Allah forbade that. His saying: "And bring to witness two just men from among you," meaning: regarding the divorce and the reconciliation. "And establish the testimony for Allah," meaning: whoever possesses a testimony should testify to it.
His saying: "And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect." The interpretation of Ibn Abbas regarding His saying, may He be exalted: "And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out," he said: [a way out] from every hardship [
﴿فَإِذا بلغن أَجلهنَّ﴾ أَي: مُنْتَهى الْعدة ﴿فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَو فارقوهن بِمَعْرُوف﴾ وَذَلِكَ أَن الرجل كَانَ يُطلق الْمَرْأَة، فيتركها حَتَّى تشرف على انْقِضَاء عدّتها، ثمَّ يُرَاجِعهَا ثمَّ يطلقهَا؛ فَتعْتَد الْمَرْأَة تسع حيض، فَنهى اللَّه عَن ذَلِك، قَوْله: ﴿وَأشْهدُوا ذَوي عدل مِنْكُم﴾ يَعْنِي: على الطَّلَاق والمراجعة ﴿وَأَقِيمُوا الشَّهَادَة لله﴾ يَعْنِي: من كَانَت عِنْده شهادةٌ فليشهد بهَا.
قَوْله: ﴿وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا وَيَرْزُقْهُ من حَيْثُ لَا يحْتَسب﴾ تَفْسِير ابْن عَبَّاس فِي قَوْله ﷿: ﴿وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَهُ مخرجا﴾ قَالَ من كل ضيق [
