"There was certainly for Saba' in their dwelling place a sign," meaning: it was made clear for the people of Saba'; like His saying: "And ask the city," meaning: the people of the city.
Muhammad said: The discussion regarding (Saba') has already passed in the explanation of Surah al-Naml, as well as the difference in reading it, and its interpretation.
Yahya said: Then He informed [us] of that sign, and said: "Two gardens on the right and on the left," a garden
﴿لَقَدْ كَانَ لِسَبَإٍ فِي مَسْاكَنِهِمْ آيَةٌ﴾ أَي: لقد تبيّن لأهل سبإٍ؛ كَقَوْلِه: ﴿واسأل الْقرْيَة﴾ أَي: أهل الْقرْيَة.
قَالَ محمدٌ: قد مضى القَوْل فِي (سبإٍ) فِي تَفْسِير سُورَة النَّمْل، وَاخْتِلَاف الْقِرَاءَة فِيهِ، والتأويل.
قَالَ يحيى: ثمَّ أخبر بِتِلْكَ الْآيَة؛ فَقَالَ: ﴿جَنَّتَانِ عَنْ يَمِينٍ وَشِمَالٍ﴾ جنَّة
