"And Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Thicket [Al-Aykah]." He means: the people of Shu‘ayb. And the Thicket [Al-Aykah] is the dense grove. "Those are the confederates [Al-Ahzab]." He means by this: the disbelievers of those mentioned who conspired against their prophets.
﴿وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَابُ الأَيْكَةِ﴾ يَعْنِي: قوم شُعَيْب , والأيكة: الغيضة ﴿أُولَئِكَ الْأَحْزَاب﴾ يَعْنِي بِهِ كفار من ذكر تحزبوا على أَنْبِيَائهمْ
