the dreams that the sleeper sees are in that state. If he is among those for whom Allah has decreed death in his sleep, the ruh (spirit) departs to the nafs (soul); and if he is among those whose term has not arrived, the nafs returns to the ruh, and he awakens.

"Indeed, in that are signs for a people who give thought," and they are the believers.
