Translation · EN

"Or have they taken other than Allah as intercessors?" That is: have they taken them to intercede for them? They claimed that for their worldly life so that it might be set right for them, yet they do not acknowledge the Hereafter. "Say," O Muhammad, "Even if they possess," meaning: their idols, "nothing and do not understand?" [Meaning: that they do not possess anything and do not understand].

﴿أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ شُفَعَاء﴾ أَي: قد اتخذوهم؛ ليشفعوا لَهُم (ل ٣٠٠) زَعَمُوا ذَلكَ لدنياهم ليصلحها لَهُم وَلَا يقرونَ بِالآخِرَة ﴿قل﴾ يَا مُحَمَّد: ﴿أَوَ لَوْ كَانُوا﴾ ﴿يَعْنِي: أوثانهم﴾ ﴿لَا يَمْلِكُونَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يعْقلُونَ﴾ [أَي: أَنهم لَا يملكُونَ شَيْئا وَلَا يعْقلُونَ)
