"And those who disbelieved say: We will not believe" — meaning, we will not attest to the truth of — "in this Qur'an, nor in that which was before it," meaning: the Torah and the Gospel.
"And if you could see when the wrongdoers" — that is: the polytheists — "are detained before their Lord" on the Day of Resurrection, "those who were oppressed" — meaning the underlings (fol. 278) — "will say to those who were arrogant" — meaning the leaders.
Surah Saba', verses 32 through 36.
﴿وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَنْ نُؤْمِنَ﴾ لن نصدق ﴿بِهَذَا الْقُرْآن وَلَا بِالَّذِي بَين يَدَيْهِ﴾ يعنون: التَّوْرَاة وَالْإِنْجِيل.
﴿وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ الظَّالِمُونَ﴾ أَي: الْمُشْركُونَ ﴿مَوْقُوفُونَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ﴾ يَوْم الْقِيَامَة ﴿يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا﴾ وهم السفلة (ل ٢٧٨) ﴿للَّذين استكبروا﴾ وهم الرؤساء.
