"Without any authority that has come to them"—without any proof having come to them from Allah regarding the worship of idols—"It is greatly hateful to Allah."
﴿بِغَيْر سُلْطَان أَتَاهُم﴾ بِغَيْر حجَّة أَتَتْهُم من اللَّه بِعبَادة الْأَوْثَان ﴿كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِنْدَ الله﴾.
