"Whoever does an evil deed"—and the 'evil deed' here means: polytheism—"will not be recompensed except by the like thereof," which is the Fire. "But whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer"—God does not accept righteous deeds except from a believer.
"They will be given provision therein without account." Al-Suddi said: It means: without being followed up, and without any obligation being placed upon them for what they are given.

﴿من عمل سَيِّئَة﴾ والسيئة هَا هُنَا: الشّرك ﴿فَلا يُجْزَى إِلا مِثْلَهَا﴾ النَّار ﴿وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا مِنْ ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ﴾ لَا يقبل اللَّه الْعَمَل الصَّالح إِلَّا من الْمُؤمن.
﴿يُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيْر حِسَاب﴾ قَالَ السُّدي: يَعْنِي: بِغَيْر متابعةٍ وَلَا مَنِّ عَلَيْهِم فِيمَا يُعْطَوْن.
