"They shall say: 'They have vanished from us; nay, we did not used to invoke anything before'" that could benefit us or harm us. Allah says: "Thus does Allah lead the disbelievers astray."
﴿قَالُوا ضَلُّوا عَنَّا بل لم نَكُنْ ندعوا من قبل شَيْئا﴾ ينفعنا وَلَا يضرنا , قَالَ اللَّه: ﴿كَذَلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ الْكَافِرِينَ﴾
