"And they are restrained," Qatadah said: They have restrainers who send their first back to their last.
Muhammad said: The root of the word comes from "waza‘tuhu" (I restrained him) when you hold him back.
﴿فهم يُوزعُونَ﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: لَهُمْ وَزَعَةٌ تَرُدُّ أولاهم عَلَى أخراهم.
قَالَ محمدٌ: وأصل الْكَلِمَة من: وزعته إِذا كففته.
