"Allah, who revealed the Book," the Quran, "with the truth and the Balance," meaning: justice, "And what will make you know, perhaps the Hour is near?"
Muhammad said: "Near" may be understood to mean: perhaps the coming of the Hour is near, or it may mean: perhaps the Resurrection is near. And Allah knows best what He intended.
﴿الله الَّذِي أنزل الْكتاب﴾ الْقُرْآن ﴿بِالْحَقِّ وَالْمِيزَان﴾ يَعْنِي: الْعدْل ﴿وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَة قريب﴾.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: ﴿قريب﴾ يجوز أَن يكون على معنى: لَعَلَّ مجيءَ السَّاعَة قريبٌ , وَقد يكون بِمَعْنى: لَعَلَّ الْبَعْث قريب. وَالله أعلم بِمَا أَرَادَ.
