"Should We turn the Remembrance away from you," meaning: the Quran, "in disregard?" The interpretation of al-Kalbi says: Shall We abandon the Remembrance because of you? "Because you are a people who are excessive," meaning: polytheists; that is: We shall not abandon it.
Muhammad said: It is recited "an kuntum" (that you are) with a fathah (on the hamzah) and with a kasrah. As for the one who recites with a fathah, the meaning is: because you are.
