Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 4 · Page 61917

Translation · EN

"And when one of them is given tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful as an example"—meaning: with a female [child], because they used to say that the angels were the daughters of God; thus they ascribed daughters to Him, while they would kill their own daughters. "His face becomes darkened"—meaning: changed. "And he is inwardly full of grief"—meaning: he suppresses his rage and sadness. This is because they were pleased for God with what they loathed for themselves.

Muhammad said: The origin of al-kazm (suppression) in the language is confinement.
