"Or have We given them a book before it"—meaning, before the Quran—"in which is what they claim," from their saying that the angels are the daughters of God, [and their saying]: "If God had disliked what we are upon, He would have diverted us from it to another."
﴿أَمْ آتَيْنَاهُمْ كِتَابًا مِّن قَبْلِهِ﴾ من قبل الْقُرْآن فِيهِ مَا يدّعون من قَوْلهم أَن الْمَلَائِكَة بَنَات الله [وَقَوْلهمْ]: لَو كره اللَّهُ مَا نَحْنُ عَلَيْهِ لَحَوَّلَنَا عَنهُ إِلَى غَيره
