Translation · EN

His saying: "Then, can you make the deaf hear"—meaning the Prophet—"or guide the blind"—from blindness? He says this as an interrogative, meaning: you can neither make them hear nor guide them, meaning those who do not believe.

قَوْله: ﴿أفأنت تسمع الصم﴾ يَعْنِي النَّبِي، تسمع الصم عَن الْهدى ﴿أَوْ تهدي الْعمي﴾ عَن الْعَمى، يَقُوله على الِاسْتِفْهَام، أَي: أَنَّك لَا تسمعهم وَلَا تهديهم يَعْنِي: من لَا يُؤمن.
