"Then when We removed the punishment from them, behold, they broke their word" (43:50)—meaning, they broke their covenant.
﴿فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ إِذَا هم ينكثون﴾ (ل ٣١٦) أَي: ينقضون عَهدهم.
