"And indeed, it [he] is a sign for the Hour," referring back to the mention of Jesus. Qatada said: Meaning, the descent of Jesus. "So be not in doubt of it," meaning: do not doubt it.
Muhammad said: His statement "a sign for the Hour" in the reading of those who read it with a kasra on the 'ayn (li-'ilmun) means: his descent, by which the proximity of the Hour is known.
His statement "And follow Me, this is a straight path," which is Islam.
﴿وَإنَّهُ لعلم للساعة﴾ رَجَعَ إِلَى ذكر عِيسَى، قَالَ قَتَادَة: يَعْنِي: نزُول عِيسَى ﴿فَلا تمترن بهَا﴾ لَا تشكن فِيهَا.
قَالَ محمدٌ: قَوْله: ﴿لعلم للساعة﴾ فِي قِرَاءَة من قَرَأَ بِكَسْر الْعين، الْمَعْنى: نُزُوله؛ يُعْلَم بِهِ قرب السَّاعَة.
قَوْله ﴿وَاتَّبِعُونِ هَذَا صِرَاط مُسْتَقِيم﴾ وَهُوَ الْإِسْلَام
