"Indeed, We have adorned the lowest heaven with an adornment: the stars," meaning: and We made them—meaning the stars—a protection for the heaven.
﴿إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِب وحفظا﴾ أَي: وجعلناها يَعْنِي: الْكَوَاكِب حِفْظًا للسماء
