Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 4 · Page 7003

Translation · EN

"We have sent it down," meaning: the Qur'an, "in a blessed night," meaning: the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr).

Yahya narrated from Hammam ibn Yahya, from al-Kalbi, from Abu Salih, from Ibn Abbas who said: "The Qur'an descended on the Night of Decree to the lowest heaven in its entirety, then it began thereafter to descend in segments—three verses, four verses, five verses, and less than that or more. Then he recited this verse: 'So I swear by the setting of the stars.'"
